Matthew Jones

For me, photography is a way to relax and have some time to myself. Having lived in rural Wales for many years, I've always explored my surroundings, but it wasn't until I was at university studying Art, I realised how I could express my love for the outdoors using photography. This feeling of being able to share my story and photos with the world fuels my drive to keep going out in all conditions, and I hope that this feeling comes across through my images.

Since graduating from university, my love for photography grew and grew. I went on to win the 'Welsh Macro Photography Award' in the British Photography Awards 2017 with my image, 'A Snail Adventure'. This was a huge milestone for me. I was also shortlisted for the 2018 Awards with my image 'Moon Moth'. Both of which were taken in the small village of Llanllwni, a place people just pass by.

My photography is based around my home in rural Wales and its surrounding area, whether it's through the landscape or the wildlife that live there. Something I love about photography are the small details people walk straight past because there's an obvious landmark ahead, but it's those small abstract images that sometimes make that trip worthwhile. Don't get me wrong, when I get a chance to travel, I don't hesitate to try and capture the beauty the world has to offer.

Now that I've rambled on about myself I think you deserve a break, so go enjoy my images and don't hesitate to contact me.
